Pulse workspace version 4.5.14

Payroll & Rostering

  1. An issue in version 4.5.13 that caused the TFN on the employee record to be blank and non-editable has been corrected.
  2. You can now view the data that will be sent to the ATO via Single Touch Payroll (STP). This data is in XML format and intended to be machine-readable. It is viewable in Pay Details Entry by following these steps…
    1. Click the Validate STP button. This will validate your pays and create the report data.
    2. Right-Click any employee in the Employee Summary grid with the Valid STP? column ticked.
    3. Select View Employee STP Data.

Pulse workspace version 4.5.13

In this update we continue to build out our software infrastructure to support the ATO’s Single Touch Payroll (STP) initiative…

Pulse Workspace

  1. We have separated the software download and installation procedure from Pulse Workspace to a separate executable. The download procedure will continue to be accessible from Pulse Workspace but will execute in a separate process space. The new executable is compiled to .NET version 3.5 which is supported on all operating systems including Windows Server 2003. We have done this because we still have some customers using very old server operating systems and the ATO’s validation software requires .NET version 4.5. Thus customers can continue downloading our software to these old servers but the software must be executed on Windows 7, 8 or 10.

Payroll

  1. STP requires that ALL employees have a valid TFN or an ATO predefined TFN. For this reason an employee’s TFN is now a required field.
  2. We have added the field STP Payee ID to the employee record. Initially this field is set equal to the Employee Number. Unlike the Employee Number or TFN, it is an immutable field meaning it can never change over the life of the employee record. The STP Payee ID is displayed on the employee record as a read-only field and printed on the employee payslip as STP-ID.
  3. We have removed the concept of a partially-terminated employee and replaced it with a finalised employee. In previous versions you could partially terminate an employee which would not create a termination history entry or termination date. This was usually done to allow an employee’s termination to be paid out over a period of weeks if so agreed. This is at odds with ATO’s STP implementation in that the original termination date must be recorded and not changed in subsequent payments. Therefore, at the close of each pay entry for a terminated employee you will be asked if you wish to finalise the employee. If you answer, Yes the system will discontinue the employee and disallow any further pay entry. Responding, No will allow another pay entry in subsequent pay periods even though the employee is terminated.
  4. The New Employee Wizard has been rewritten and is now two pages rather than four. This has been achieved by removing the TFN Declaration and the Employee Summary page. Electronic TFN Declarations will form part of the second phase of STP.

Pulse workspace version 4.5.1

Pulse Workspace

We have moved from version 4.4.95 to 4.5.1 to reflect our upgrade of the underlying DevExpress controls and editors used in our software. The DevExpress version is now 17.1.

  1. We have changed the default font throughout our software from Tahoma to Segoe UI. This is the same font used by Microsoft as its system font in all recent operating system releases.
  2. We have added the ability to change text size. We emphasise that this is currently a work in progress and has the potential to corrupt some form and dialog displays, especially at very large and very small text sizes. Most forms will be Ok at Small, Large or Normal text size.
  3. As part of our effort to implement change to text size, we are progressively upgrading our forms and dialogs. We are replacing our old wizard dialog with a new version and now employ a layout assistant in forms design. For some forms this will result in a dramatic change in appearance but little or no change to functionality. Changes thus far are most evident in our Payroll and Rostering software.
  4. Pulse Workspace now has a new Microsoft Office-like ribbon menu. We have also rearranged the menu items into more logical groups and pages…
    1. The Personality items are now grouped under Appearance and include new Colour Mixer and Change Text Size menu items.
    2. Software update menu items have been moved to a separate Web Update page.
    3. Remote Support is now a menu item in the Help menu group with a large icon.

Payroll & Rostering

  1. We have conmpletely re-written Maintain Standard Shifts and Maintain Ad Hoc Shifts. These applications now employ the same grid / dialog data entry methods found in all our software. As a result, the reliability of data entry has much improved.
  2. We have incorporated the ATO’s 2017 Single Touch Payroll validation suite into our software.
